La Martinique est une île des Caraïbes qui fait partie des petites Antilles. Région d’outre-mer de la France, sa culture reflète un mélange distinctif d’influences françaises et antillaises. Sa plus grande ville, Fort-de-France, abrite des collines abruptes, des rues étroites et La Savane, un jardin bordé de boutiques et de cafés dans lequel a été érigée la statue de Joséphine de Beauharnais, première épouse de Napoléon Bonaparte, native de l’île.

Martinique is a Caribbean island that is part of the Lesser Antilles. Overseas region of France, its culture reflects a distinctive blend of French and Caribbean influences. Its largest city, Fort-de-France, is home to steep hills, narrow streets and La Savane, a garden lined with shops and cafes in which was erected the statue of Josephine de Beauharnais, first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, native from the island.
